The following will guide you through details we will require to migrate hosting across to ourselves.

Requirements

  1. Domain Name Access
  2. Control Panel Access (if applicable)
  3. FTP Access (if no Cpanel)
    1. Database Access (if no Cpanel)
    2. WordPress Admin Access (if your website is built on WordPress)

We also need to know the following:

  1. Are we going to be managing your domain name (i.e. You pay us for the domain name every year)
  2. Are we going to host your emails (i.e. You may have an external email provider they would like to keep – if we are going to host your emails, we will require passwords and all email addresses)

Steps

Domain Name Access

First we need access to the your Domain Name provider – this information can be found by doing a Who.is check on the domain name. The “Registrar” section will inform you who holds the domain. I.E. GoDaddy, 1and1, FastHosts….

You will need to obtain logins for the above registrar. We will also need to know if we are taking control of the domain name for you, so we can transfer the domain into our account.

Hosting Control Panel

Now we need access to the website files, the easiest way to obtain everything is to gain access to your Control Panel, where we can gain FTP and Database access to download a backup of the files. Some times there may not be access to a Control Panel, in which case we will need FTP access as a minimum.

Email Access

If we are going to be hosting your emails on our severs, we will require a list of email addresses and passwords for each account, in order to migrate their email’s across to our servers.
